For players with mischief in their hearts, it doesn’t get much better than the invincibility cheat in GTA 5. RockStar‘s gigantic crime sim is known for letting the player do whatever they want, and the invincibility cheat makes sure you don’t suffer the consequences of your misdeeds. Whether you want to steal a tank, max out your Wanted Level, or just complete a mission you’ve been stuck on, this cheat is your answer. Neither bullets nor explosions will stop you with this power active, though it won’t help when playing online. Here’s how to use the invincibility cheat in GTA 5, regardless of which platform you’re playing on.

It isn’t hard to use the invincibility cheat in GTA 5. That said, the process works a bit differently depending on what platform you’re playing on. It’s also worth noting that if you try to reactivate the cheat while its countdown is still active, invincibility will turn off. The best way to keep the cheat going is to use Trevor’s Invulnerability power. That way you can reactivate the cheat while minimizing your damage during the downtime. The following table includes a complete list of invincibility cheat variations based on platform.

PCPAINKILLER
PlayStation 3, 4, and 5Right, X, Right, Left, Right, R1, Right, Left, X, Triangle
Xbox 360, One, and Series X/SRight, A, Right, Left, Right, RB, Right, Left, A, Y
Mobile Phone / All Systems1999-7246-545537

To activate the cheat on PC, start by pressing the tilde key (~). Doing so will open an input box with “Cheat Code” written on it. Type “PAINKILLER” in the box to activate the invincibility cheat. Note that it doesn’t matter whether you use uppercase or lowercase when entering the cheat. If you’d prefer to use the mobile phone instead, bring up your character’s phone by pressing the UP arrow key on the keyboard and opening the dialing screen. Enter the mobile phone number above to activate the cheat. Console players can use this method as well by hitting UP on the D-pad to open their character’s phone.

How The Cheat Works

Once you use the cheat you will see a 5-minute countdown timer in the bottom-right corner of the screen. Until that timer expires, nothing can harm you in any way. Gunshots, explosions, falling, drowning, and car impacts won’t do a thing to your health. This cheat only works offline, however. It’s great for the game’s single-player missions, but you’ll need to find some other way to survive if you’re playing online. Grand Theft Auto 5 is already a gangster’s paradise. It’s even more wild when you have the durability of Superman.

Grand Theft Auto 5 is available for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
