One dubious sign in Seattle received real-time fact-checking by a human sign earlier this week. Redditor and living sign bennetthaselton donned the custom sign to refute a Seattle rail yard sign that praised Trump for rebuilding America. As the human sign pointed out, “The Red Sign Is A Lie.” President Biden was responsible for signing the infrastructure bill for which the Trump admin wants credit. It’s far from the first time that Trump has claimed credit for another’s work. It might, however, be the first time anyone’s dressed up as a billboard in a Washington rail yard to make this point.

Larger Seattle protests may have dominated media coverage, but solitary ones have been cropping up with incredible frequency. From towns and cities across the country, protests, graffiti, signs, and billboards have all sent the same message: many want Trump and oligarch ally Elon Musk removed from power. This week, a brand new wave of tariffs from Trump is doing even more to destabilize the economy. It’s no surprise that people like bennetthaselton would call out further lies about Trump.
A Reddit post by u/bennetthaselton about the living sign protest in Seattle received over 35k upvotes and numerous supportive comments. “Can you chain it to the fence? Should be there permanently,” said one Redditor. Bennetthaselton got a laugh out of the suggestion, but shared a good reason for not having done so, saying, “I like where your head’s at but there was a cop right there 🤣.” The sign’s craftsmanship impressed another Redditor, who said,
OP, that’s a fantastic sign frame. I may be copying your design for the next Tesla Takedown (or the 4/5 Hands Off). Well done on the message too!
The PVC structure held up well enough for a photo-op and tens of thousands of upvotes. It certainly seems the sign worked. As tariffs, federal freezes, and agency cuts continue to threaten American incomes and lives, reminding people of the facts matters. If it requires a human sign to do that in Seattle, so be it.
