It’s now been three years since the release of Crytek’s PvPvE battle royale, Hunt: Showdown. Although it may not be as active and flashy as other games similar to its genre, Hunt: Showdown has held a steady number of concurrent players over the years, thanks to its loyal userbase. Updates since its launch have consisted of minor gameplay fixes and changes, with the occasional cosmetic DLCs.
However, a new event has sparked the playerbase count to rise in numbers set a new record of concurrent players on Steam. The “As the Crow Flies” Event features new cosmetic items as well as the long-awaited release of a brand new boss, a long-awaited feature the community has been begging for over the years. On the contrary, this new boss won’t be accessible to the public until specific requirements are met.
To unlock this boss, players must work together by fulfilling tasks within the game to obtain event points. The event is divided into two parts, “Act One: A Murder of Crows” and “Act Two As the Crow Flies.” Crytek is using Act One as an incentive for players old and new to participate in earning points within a limited time. All of the points go into a collective pot, so the more people play, the sooner the boss can be revealed. During the second phase of the game’s event, event points will go towards players’ personal progression in unlocking exclusive, event-related items.
To contribute, players must earn points by:
- Destroying small bird models (1 Event Point)
- Destroying large bird models (2 Event Points)
- Destroying a murder of crows (1 Event Point)
- Investigating event-related clues and rifts (2 Event Points)
- Killing a boss (3 Event Points)
The event is a unique way of encouraging former players to revisit Hunt: Showdown while compelling newcomers to join in on the fun. “As the Crow Flies” will be live from March 24 to April 19.
