A trans man living in a “deeply conservative city” in Georgia couldn’t contain his feelings for his neighbor’s pride flag and had to tell his neighbor how touched he was by their bravery. Reddit user N3rdy30, the neighbor in question, posted a photo of the letter on r/pics, which explained how the trans man often drives by their home and noticed their LGBTQ flag. “Whenever I drive by your home, I feel safer,” the note read.

The trans person opened up to N3rdy30 in the letter, saying that “I am terrified” of being carted away to concentration camps. However, the neighbor’s pride flag gives them hope, especially since their home is in a major roundabout, where plenty of traffic passes through. Simply put, the trans man expressed his appreciation and gratitude for N3rdy30’s boldness in flying a flag during such controversial times in the country.

Needless to say, N3rdy30 was deeply touched and wrote in the comments on his post about his experience after receiving this letter. He claimed the thank you note “made me feel like a rock star because he felt safe giving that to my wife and I.” OP added how he and his wife have been avid supporters of human rights for many years, but have also paid the price for their political beliefs.

“We’ve had so much vandalism, hate, and outright death threats, but for every one of those, there’s something like this that happens. There’s still hope, we just have to keep on keeping on,” N3rdy30 wrote. “We try our best to just be good folks in our community.”

Reddit Expressed Overwhelming Praise for the Georgia Homeowner’s Support for the Trans Man

The post garnered tens of thousands of upvotes, with hundreds of comments praising the neighbor for being a blessing to the trans man and the LGBTQ community. “It’s amazing what literally letting your flag fly can mean to people. That’s why expression is so powerful,” remarked a commenter.

Another Redditor chimed in: “I think some liberals don’t or can’t understand how trying it is to be liberal in conservative rural areas. It’s not easy. People will threaten you, ostracize you, and even physically harm you.” As OP mentioned, they’ve received their share of harassment over their stance but haven’t faltered.
