A Texas family vacationing in Florida experienced a customer at a Chick-Fil-A go on a racist tirade about Mexicans entering the U.S. “illegally.”
A member of the Texas family, Rebekah, posted the two-part video on her personal TikTok account, Rebekahz89. According to her, this had all started after her family had apparently sat too close to the man, who called himself ‘Nick’.
In Rebekah’s original video, Nick had relocated two three tables down. As she’s speaking with him, he says, “This is America, honey.” He adds, “I’m allowed to talk Spanish. Anything I want. This is America.” This was seemingly triggered after he allegedly insulted the family in Spanish. According to Rebekah, he said something obscene. Nick laughs it off after Rebekah lets him know she was born in America.
In her second video, Nick gets even more rowdy, enough to get employees at the Chick-Fil-A to step in and tell him to leave. Nick gets belligerent, accusing the employee of taking sides. “That’s very rude just because you’re Mexican, too.”
As the customer is gathering his stuff, Rebekah calls Nick a “racist.” He doesn’t deny it; in fact, he admits he’s “racist” towards Mexicans who come into the U.S. “illegally.” Despite the employees trying to usher him out, he continues his tirade.
He says to them in a shocking display of racism: “I was already here and you’ve [expletive] got Mexicans coming up in here illegally and [expletive].” On his way out, Nick is cursing up a storm and spouts more racist rhetoric.
Viewers react to Florida man’s racist monologue
Upon learning that Rebekah’s family experienced such a nasty bout of racism, many commenters on TikTok were unsurprised that it happened in Florida. According to one local, “The racism is off the chain. It’s disturbing.” Other locals spoke up, saying they don’t “claim” him.
One viewer made fun of the customer, saying, “They’re mad they are not bilingual like us.” Another viewer in the thread speculated that racists like this “fear everything so they always think you’re talking about them.”
A few commenters took a chance to bash Chick-Fil-A online. “First mistake is going to chick fil a it’s already a Trump loving central then Florida pues wow.”
According to Rebekah, police were called to the Chick-Fil-A, where they answered questions. She said they were “professional, respectful, and kind throughout the whole situation,” despite Nick claiming the police would treat him like a friend.
