When you vote individuals into congress, you do so with the hopes that they’ll take action and stand on important issues, preferably good ones. Unfortunately, sometimes their promises fall through or they outright avoid doing what they said they’d do. One New York woman decided she was going to have some words with 4th Congressional District Congresswoman Laura Gillen. When the call when to voicemail, she didn’t skip a beat.
As voice actor Lorin Zackular captions in her TikTok video, “We need to be meaner to out elected reps.” Lorion then calls the office number of New York’s 4th Congressional District. After the tone, Lorin starts off sounding very sweet and friendly, stating her name and that she’s a “registered Democrat residing in the state of New York.”
Lorin then says she heard Congresswoman Laura voted to keep funding ICE, along with several other Democrats in office. In response to this, Lorin says, “[Expletive] you, [expletive] your team, [expletive] your life.”
But Lorin continues. In her voicemail, she goes over how everyone just watched ICE kill another person, Alex Pretti. “I believe you’re a coward. I believe you’re a centrist,” Lorin says. “I hate you. I hope that you never run for office ever ever again, because your decisions are despicable and they put American lives in danger.” Lorin ends the call with, “I hate you and be well this weekend. It’s gonna get chilly, so stock up and I’ll be calling back.”
As Lorin put it in the second portion of her caption, “They won’t do… at all but at least let them know they have enemies
The people in the comments approved Lorin’s way of handling politicians. One commenter even suggested Lorin call Senator Chuck Schumer next.
Another guessed Congresswoman Laura “hung up immediately,” but that’s okay. “Save that for the end and tell her you’re voting her out,” they added.
Some may consider this a step too far, but remember: elected officials work for you. It’s your right to call them out when they’re doing something that betrays your values.
