ICE is targeting hard-working roofers, the government run by Trump and Musk is weakening the EPA and making horrible environmental decisions, and soon, people will be mandated to work back in the office. Something interesting has always been happening in Minnesota lately, especially for the folks living in Duluth. Hard-working people and defiant protestors in Duluth decided to take a stand against some recent policy changes that affect local pollution and the safety of everybody living there.
During an EPA rally in Duluth, citizens from the city and across Minnesota gathered around to protest the decisions to weaken the local EPA and support clean water, clean not polluted air, climate change, and the fact that it exists and is very real. Hundreds gathered in a peaceful protest alongside London Road near the EPA lab to make their voices heard.
In a post by nancycita on the r/Minnesota Reddit page, many folks took to the comments to argue about the state of the EPA and the protest in general.
“Drove by this morning, was hoping to stop on my way back but took a different route back. That area needs to be protected from these monsters at all cost. You all are the real hero’s today!”
“During Trump’s first term, he described himself as “pro-asbestos” and his second pick for head of the EPA this term was David Fotouhi, who worked to remove the ban on asbestos during Trump’s first term.”
“Three MAGA driven actions affecting Duluth specifically; 1) Outbound shipping of taconite reduced because of mine layoffs 2) Fed funding for mandated repairs to Duluth water treatment plant taken away 3) Funding for Aerial Lift Bridge renovations taken away. MAGAs are just pissed because der fuhrer is bending them over too. They are too proud and scared to say it’s BS so they keep focusing hate against the perceived enemy. Unless you’re an uber rich donor or oligarch, we ALL are on the same side whether you like it or not.”
“You’re a parrot repeating back what you’ve been told by right-wing propaganda networks, except that parrots have more reasoning power than the average conservative.”
It’s a bad situation all around; rights are being stripped away in the name of big business, and profit will contaminate local Duluth areas. Not just now, but future generations will undoubtedly suffer the effects of these decisions.
