There are already hundreds of videos showing how everybody is suffering the consequences of a regime like Trump’s and ICE’s. Anyone, anywhere, can disappear in a second, and just for being on public roads or private property, it doesn’t matter anymore. One way or another, anyone could end up in prison or deported to who knows where. For example, this person recorded on a street in Chicago, Illinois, as a van full of ICE agents chased them. All this was because the pedestrian simply greeted them, and that was enough for the agents to start chasing them.
Redditor Milkmilkbanana shared on r/illinois how a person takes out their cell phone to record a van approaching. However, as the van approaches, several ICE agents can be seen inside, who stop right in front of the pedestrian. The pedestrian simply waves at the agents, but they immediately get out of the vehicle. The person in Chicago begins walking quickly while filming, as ICE agents start walking after them and then chase them faster and faster.
The person continues walking with the agents close behind, still chasing him. In the end, the same agent who was driving the vehicle gets close enough to snatch the citizen’s cell phone. The actions of the agents, not only in this case but nationwide, only increase the unease of many other citizens.
“Isn’t this battery/Assault? Pretty sure there is still freedom of speech and what someone says gives ice no reason to come and attack them,” commented BigCawkHamster.
“There are only freedoms allowed to us by the police state. The constitution essentially doesn’t exist now. The Bill of Rights protects people in the United States, not just citizens, but the white supremacist have decided that the American dream is not to be shared any longer with melanated individuals,” said Andyaintme.
“This is straight up assault and illegal. Pure blatant racism for the world to see. God I hope the LICE boys (and girls) get what they deserve,” added Fritzerbacon.
Who knows where this will lead us if the authorities continue to act in this way? I would say that perhaps the recommendation would be to stay indoors, but that is impossible if people need to work in order to survive. In addition, ICE agents still enter people’s homes without any kind of warrant. Even so, we must not lose faith that, over time, the situation can still improve for everyone.
