Idaho DoorDash Driver Refuses to ‘Leave at Door’ When Customer Has ‘Feminine Name’: ‘Creeps Want To See What We Look Like’

Never a better time to call the police

You’d imagine that food delivery drivers want to complete as many orders as possible and not hang around any one customer’s house for too long. But for one girl and her boyfriend in a small Idaho apartment, one driver refused to leave her order at the door because she had a female name.

To explain: Whenever her boyfriend has food ordered under his ‘male’ name, the drivers would follow the instructions of “Leave at door” with the deliveries. However, with one particular driver and several others, they would hang around and even ask the girlfriend to “come outside” if her feminine name was used. Now that’s creepy!

In her Reddit post about the matter, the Idaho woman states that she puts clear-cut directions, telling the deliveryman to place her food by the door and not ring the bell. “And yet, more than 50% of the time, they stand outside for 5 minutes, text me repeatedly, buzz, call, and harass me trying to get me to come down,” she explains. “It can be scary to have to meet a random man when I’m home alone.”

Drivers Stopped Harassing After She Changed Her Account Name to Her Boyfriend’s

Since she changed her account to her boyfriend’s name, she claims this issue no longer happens. But she’s still bothered by the fact that it ever happened in the first place, and who could blame her? “Is it truly that drivers are creeps and want to see what we look like??” she asked in her post. “I can’t think of any other reason for why this would happen.” Of course, she does later clarify she was generalizing and apologizes for throwing all drivers shade as “sexual predators.” But plenty of users in the comment section agree that the drivers’ behavior is indeed creepy, and others even share their similar horror stories.

From women having delivery drivers stalk their house for half an hour to others getting violently assaulted, apparently, dangerous delivery drivers are less uncommon than many imagined. Thankfully, the culprits in some of the stories met their well-deserved fate by being arrested, but those who were just unsettlingly creepy to the customers are probably still out there. “So annoying!! They’re missing out on 30 minutes of potential income just to be a weirdo,” the Idaho girlfriend says angrily.

At the very least, these drivers are putting themselves at the ‘fortunate risk’ of being reported to both their employers and the authorities. Shameless people deserve to be shamelessly punished, after all. It’s very sad that this is the reality we live in. That said, it’s likely best not to answer the door alone for in-person deliveries, have a self-defense weapon always at the ready, or simply never order food late into the night.
