Are they loving it?

Weddings are known to be very extravagant events with beautiful venues and a classy vibe. However, something that not a lot of people might not associate those things with is a McDonald’s fast food restaurant. Although that just might be where those people are wrong. This Illinois bride has gone viral on TikTok after adding a McDonald’s theme twist to her big day. However, it seemed to be a huge hit with most of the guests.

Newsweek reports that the Illinois bride has been identified as Chicago native, Emily Zimmerman. She allegedly works in marketing for McDonald’s corporate branch. According to the source, Emily and her now husband, DJ, wanted some kind of snack to feed their guests after a night of partying and dancing.

The Illinois bride, who literally works for a fast food company, then had what may have been the perfect idea. Zimmerman stated that all of their friends encouraged the idea of having a McDonald’s buffet station at the wedding reception. In the viral TikTok, viewers can see burgers, nuggets, fries, and even plenty of sauce.

Everything was said to be available to be packed in a Happy Meal box for convenience. There is even a clip of the bride herself snacking away on a cheeseburger. However, not everyone was amused by this. Some TikTok users seem pretty upset about the wedding as they state, “I hate capitalism.”

Adding to the whole McDonald’s theme, the couple even posted up outside of one for a quick wedding photo shoot. Emily explains that she worked with the local franchise, and the manager surprised her with the newlyweds’ names on the sign out front. The sign read “Congratulations, Emily and DJ!” The couple would stop at the restaurant after leaving their church to take the photos. It would seem Emily has quite the bond with her co-workers, even if they don’t work in the same office.

While this Illinois bride definitely did not have a traditional caterer for her wedding, it would seem the happy couple is still thriving together. Emily Zimmerman states she has been to weddings where they serve all kinds of random food. However, for them, McDonald’s may just feel right. As far as “Late-night snacks” go, a good burger and some fries never fails. Despite some social media users being upset with capitalism, it seems the wedding went off without a hitch. Hopefully, the newlyweds can continue to live a happy life together.
