Few topics generate online debate quite like Donald Trump, and a new proposal from Illinois is proving no different. State Rep. Bob Morgan recently suggested imposing a 100% tax on Trump’s reported $1.8 billion fund, drawing both praise and criticism across social media. Supporters welcomed the idea, while opponents argued it would be unconstitutional, fueling a fresh round of political arguments online.

For context, State Rep. Bob Morgan from Illinois uploaded a video with the caption “100% Tax on Trump’s Slush Fund.” In the clip, he says that “Donald Trump has gone too far,” mentioning how the illegality of the slush funds for his “friends.” For that reason, Morgan is looking to introduce the Anti-Weaponization Fund Tax Act. This act will allegedly tax 100% of any payout to Illinois residents from the Anti-Weaponization Fund. He also mentions that the Oval Office shouldn’t be seen as a personal ATM for Trump’s friends.

Naturally, this statement raised a lot of eyebrows, with several people backing Morgan’s idea, claiming it was good. However, a few other Trump supporters decided to jump into the discussion to claim that this tax would be illegal. And, as you can imagine, a debate ensued.

On the one hand, several people praised Morgan’s idea, saying it is long overdue.

“Please let this happen and not be some stunt.“

“Wish I could move to IL and vote for you!“

The other side, however, went against Morgan’s proposed act, saying what he wanted to do was illegal and would never happen.

“Illinois can’t tax income at 100%. It’s in our Constitution.“

For now, it remains unclear whether Morgan’s proposal will move forward. While many residents support the idea, critics argue it would face significant legal challenges, with some questioning whether a 100% tax could withstand constitutional scrutiny. As the debate continues online, the proposal’s future remains uncertain, leaving supporters and opponents alike waiting to see what happens next.
