It’s always wholesome when those who are better off share a bit of their wealth with others, even if the reason is a little odd. One DoorDash driver in Illinois had such an experience when they were delivering a Baskin-Robbins order for two milkshakes at 1 am. When they went to the shop to pick up the drinks, they were told milkshakes weren’t being served at the time. But when the driver informed the customer, that’s when things took a weird yet beneficial turn, resulting in a very pricey delivery.
Even though the Baskin-Robbins shop wasn’t serving milkshakes during late-night hours, the Illinois customer wasn’t going to give up. He told the DoorDasher to visit another Baskin-Robbins 10 minutes away to pick up the same order. To compensate, he would tip the driver a wild $100. It sounded too good to be true; “Just to deliver that?” the driver thought to themself. After agreeing, the customer then sent $300 to the DoorDasher for delivering just two milkshakes!
The DoorDash driver recalled their unbelievable tip on r/doordash, explaining that the customer turned out to be a 19-year-old kid who owned a life insurance agency. “That was the best moment I’ve had while door dashing,” they remarked, doubtless happy about receiving such a massive amount for a simple and easy delivery.
“Gotta spread the love when you get an opportunity!” exclaimed a commenter in the Reddit post, who also recalled their story of tipping a DoorDasher $100 after winning a cash prize. “A good majority of our country is struggling financially. $300 could change someone’s entire month,” added another. On the flip side, several people felt as though something didn’t add up with the teenage “life insurance company owner.”
“19 years old and handing out $300 for delivering milkshakes does not sound like he’s just in life insurance lol,” remarked one user. Some chimed in, saying the boy could have been the son of the owner or he was actually a crypto scammer. Whatever the case, it was a win-win: the teenager got his milkshakes, and the driver got the best order they might ever have in their DoorDashing career.
