Eminem is currently facing intense backlash from disappointed fans after Kid Rock revealed that the Missouri-born rapper will appear on his upcoming Christian album, Halfway 2 Jesus, despite their sharply different political views. The move has since divided the rap icon’s fanbase, with many threatening to boycott Eminem since he’s a well-known Trump critic who now appears to be working with Kid Rock, one of the staunchest Trump-supporting celebrities right now.
Kid Rock, no doubt a supporter of the MAGA movement, announced the 17-track album on October 1, revealing that Eminem, whose real name is Marshall Bruce Mathers III, is featured on a song titled “7 Sins.” The album is scheduled for release on October 17. The announcement quickly sparked debate on Reddit, with some fans questioning why Eminem would collaborate with a musician whose political positions conflict with his own history of criticizing Trump.
“Woooooah, this is a massive disappointment,” one user wrote on X. Another commenter said they had removed Eminem’s music from their playlist, adding, “I’m disappointed but not particularly surprised.” One frustrated fan declared, “I’m a very disappointed Democrat,” before explaining their support for Texas Democrat James Talarico and criticizing what they viewed as a lack of principles in the entertainment industry.
Others questioned whether the collaboration involved newly recorded vocals or previously unreleased material. “$100 says it’s a [expletive] OLD track,” one Reddit user speculated, suggesting Kid Rock might be using an existing Eminem verse to promote the album. However, there has been no confirmation that the song uses older recordings.
Eminem’s long history of slamming Trump
The reaction reflects Eminem’s long-standing public opposition to Trump. The rapper criticized the Republican president during his first term and publicly supported then-Vice President Kamala Harris during the 2024 presidential election. Still, not everyone believes the musical partnership deserves criticism.
“Crazy thought people can actually get along or even be friends with people who disagree politically,” one commenter argued. Another noted that the musicians have known each other for decades, suggesting their friendship should not automatically end because of their differing political beliefs. The collaboration is hardly their first. Eminem appeared on Kid Rock’s 1998 track “F[expletive] Off,” while Kid Rock appeared in the music video for Eminem’s 2013 single “Berzerk.”
In October 2024, Kid Rock publicly acknowledged their political differences while expressing affection for his longtime friend. “I love Eminem. We’ve been friends for many years,” he said, adding that he respected Eminem’s willingness to speak openly about his beliefs. Eminem responded on X by highlighting something they still shared: their support for the Detroit Lions.
Whether “7 Sins” features new material or previously recorded vocals remains unclear. For now, the announcement has reignited a rather polarizing debate among fans about whether personal relationships and musical collaborations should be separated from political disagreements.
