Fortunately, no one was injured, but it was still a notable emergency: her carbon monoxide alarm went off. However, when her landlord heard about it, he was allegedly not too pleased.
It all began when the alarm went off while SarcasticSeaStar was cooking, so she did what any safe parent would do and took the children outside before calling 911. The fire department arrived and confirmed the carbon monoxide alarm’s alert wasn’t a mistake. The stove was determined to be the cause, so it was unplugged, and OP was advised to have an appliance technician inspect it.
When SarcasticSeaStar contacted her landlord about it, his response was apathetic and rather disturbing. “He told me it was my *choice* to call 911 and I could have just stopped cooking and waited to see what happened…” she wrote. Since he was out on vacation and didn’t want to deal with her problem, he asked her to wait to use the stove until he got back.
