We may be having an overload of awesome stuff to look forward to this fall thanks to all the amazing news from E3 throughout the week, but, lest we forget, a lot of great comics are coming our way as well. We can officially add another one to the list. Scales and Scoundrels, a comic written by Sebastian Girner—who’s work on Shirtless Bear Fighter blew us away—looks like he’s excited play around in the fantasy genre, and nothing could make me happier. Scales and Scoundrels will hit comic stores this September 6th.
The comic is promising to be rather epic in scope and heart, and what more could you really ask for in a comic these days? It’s getting really great feedback already, and it’s even being compared to Scott Pilgrim and SAGA, which is high praise indeed. Everyone involved is spouting nothing but passion for the project. Here’s what Girner had to say about it via an Image news post.
We are crafting a deep and wondrous world for readers to get lost in, creating heroes, villains, and rogues to love and loathe, and spinning tales that will delight and entertain, shock and inspire. A fantasy adventure comic for readers of all ages to escape into, and bring a piece of magic back with them into their lives.
Being a long-time fan of the fantasy genre, and after recently losing my mind over how good Shirtless Bear Fighter is, I couldn’t be more excited for a new, freshly-written tale of dragons and magic. I’ve been loving Head Lopper as well, and while that comic surely has a lot of heart and touches on some deep tones in a fun way, it’s not exactly emotional. If that’s what we’ll be seeing with Scales and Scoundrels, then I’m all in.
