An Amazon driver appears to be in trouble after she was caught on camera driving on a homeowner’s well-kept lawn in Indiana, leaving extensive tire tracks that effectively ruined it, just to deliver a package. To make matters worse, the actual driveway was nearby, and the Amazon worker could’ve used it. The footage has since been shared online and has gone wildly viral, leading to numerous complaints to Amazon and also to online debates.
The incident apparently occurred in a farm property in Indiana belonging to marriage counseling podcasters Brian and Elisha MaGill, according to Daily Mail. In the video, the driver can be seen ignoring the driveway and instead cutting through the lawn, stopping near the front porch to walk out and carry a box.
After leaving the box on the porch, the driver then drove away on the lawn as well, adding even more tire tracks to the now-vandalized lawn. The video quickly gained millions of views online, accompanied by massive outrage and numerous comments condemning the driver’s actions. One commenter was in disbelief at the maneuver, “I would be livid. Can’t believe people do dumb [expletive] like this.”
Others even threw their insults at the person, claiming, “She looks like the kind of person that would jump in the reflecting pool.” So far, the driver hasn’t been identified, and at the time of writing, the Magill household hasn’t filed any possible charges yet. As per Indiana laws, intentional or reckless actions from a driver resulting in damage to private property are grounds for mischief charges.
Outrage continues, and Amazon speaks out
In a statement to Daily Mail, Amazon PR manager Jesus Garcia also spoke out against the driver’s actions, saying, “We hold delivery partners to high standards, and the actions shown in the video are clearly unacceptable.” However, Amazon itself hasn’t confirmed or denied the identity of the driver, adding that “Delivery drivers are not Amazon employees” and that they’re third-party contractors.
Regardless, people online continue to criticize both the driver and Amazon for the incident. One X user even asked, “I wonder if Amazon will do anything about it? Is this considered ‘damage to private property’?” while others questioned the driver’s logic, even mocking her, “It saved her 5 steps walking from the driveway.”
The incident has also prompted other commenters to recall similar incidents happening to their property, with one of them stating, “No, @amazon does not care, this happened three weeks ago and I have yet to get a phone call from Amazon Logistics with a solution or apology.” Indeed, it’s not the first time an Amazon driver has been caught on camera supposedly committing a crime; recently, one of them even allegedly stole a dog from a porch.
