The NBA Finals have finally concluded with the Oklahoma City Thunder being crowned the 2025 champs. After a hard-fought seven-game series, the Thunder have brought home their first championship since moving from Seattle. However, not all the OKC fans were as happy as they should have been about winning. A viral TikTok has surfaced showing Indiana Pacers fans getting a police escort out of the Oklahoma arena following the game. Things then escalated into violence as the video progressed.
In the TikTok, a couple can be seen rocking some Pacers jerseys as they left a heartbreaking Game 7 loss to the Thunder. On top of that, Indiana also lost Tyrese Haliburton to a torn achilles tendon during the game. The heartbroken Indiana Pacers fans can be seen walking through what they sarcastically explain to be an “underground bunker.” Once they reach outside, the Police can be seen and heard explaining where they should and should not go. Despite the chaos, some Thunder fans are heartbroken about the situation. A TikTok comment states, “This is not who we are,” regarding OKC’s fans.
Indiana Pacers Fans Need Police Protection To Leave Game 7 of NBA Finals
However, in the video, viewers see a law enforcement officer in the video telling the couple, “Don’t go that way.” The officer continues to explain that they do not have enough units in that direction to ensure their safety. The woman can also be heard asking if the Thunder fans will attack them.
The video then cuts to the Pacers fans walking to what many assume is either their car or hotel. However, on their way to their destination, they begin to get surrounded by Thunder fans. After a physical altercation, an OKC fan can be heard yelling “whatchu gonna do” to the couple. Shortly after, the crowd of Thunder fans threatens to beat up the Pacers fans.
After the threats start to roll in, the Indiana Pacers fans are clearly scared as they stand behind police officers. A small scuffle occurs with some pushing, but nothing serious, it seems. However, as police get a handle on things, the video ends.
The NBA Finals can be a time of great stress for dedicated fans. However, there is absolutely no room for this kind of senseless violence in the world of sports. Championship or not, when threats are made over a basketball game, that’s too far. While it appears that the Indiana Pacers fans escaped mostly unharmed, things could have ended very badly.
