Doing something distracting while driving, such as drinking or playing Pokemon Go, is a good way to get into an accident or if you’re lucky, a hefty fine. However, the potential consequences didn’t stop an Australian Instagram influencer from supposedly cooking steak while driving on the highways of Queensland.
The rather odd feat (which is punishable in reality, of course) was shared by none other than influencer himself, Jackson O’Doherty aka “itsjackson”. O’Doherty even took to Instagram to post a supposed image of his infringement notice, complete with the details and the traffic camera images with the caption “Don’t drive & cook.”
The whole stunt took allegedly place on the Pacific Motorway connecting Brisbane to the Gold Coast in the state of Queensland, Australia.
For the supposed infringement, O’Doherty was charged with a mere $1,033, presumably in AUD and his official offense states “Driver use frying pan handheld/resting on body” with no mention of the steak nor the portable propane stove. Based on the images, O’Doherty is also well aware of the locations of the traffic camera and even posed for the shot, tongs in hand and steak in tongs.
The Truth About the Stunt, Revealed
If the photo seemed suspicious, that’s because it’s made up, and even the Department of Transport and Main Roads in Queensland confirmed it was fake and a mere prank by Jackson O’Doherty, according to Daily Mail Australia .
For those who are Jackson O’Doherty’s fans, this was probably a standard Tuesday for the influencer as most of his content revolves around jokes, pranks, and skits while driving or involving cars. Other parts of his content revolve around parties and luxury travel.
Despite faking the dangerous nature of his steak-cooking-while-driving stunt and potentially inviting his fans to do the same, Jackson O’Doherty’s prank sparked a discussion online. Some of his fans or viewers had some creative input about what he did regardless of whether they believed it was fake or not.
