Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has announced an upcoming tournament for the newly released superhero fighting title Injustice 2. The Injustice 2 Battleground Series will pit gamers across the Great White North in regional tournaments that occur first online with the winners competing on the big screen in movie theaters across the country for cash prizes.

The Injustice 2 Battleground Series is a presented by EB Games who are also partnering with Cineplex and World Gaming to bring the superpower filled fighting tournament to gamers across Canada. Registration for the tournament is free, currently open, and will happen exclusively on PS4 consoles.  Players can register at www.worldgaming.com. The online qualifier will feature 64 player tournaments with a points-based format from June 24 to July 9.  These qualifiers will distal to three single elimination tournaments in seven regions from coast to coast to coast. The top a6 players from each region will then advance to stage two and participate in head to head competition at regional Cineplex movie theaters for the opportunity to score some hard earned cash for their efforts.

Regional tournaments will be double elimination format and take place in Montreal, Toronto, Ottawa, Winnipeg, Chinook, Edmonton and Langley with first place receiving $600, $300 for second and  $100 for third.

The Nerd Stash review gave Injustice 2 five out of five stars, citing, “All told Injustice 2 hits all the right marks for a fighting game offering an incredible adventure for those only looking to explore the game on a skin deep level while layering nuanced strategies and moves that will have veterans engrossed for months.  While the presentation is dramatic, bold and captivating it is the game’s depth from intriguing modes, moves and gear system that truly makes Injustice 2 stand apart from the rest of the field.” The game was released May 16, 2017, and is available on PS4 and Xbox One.
