Superhero beat-em-up Injustice 2 is headed toward a PC release. It had been rumored for a PC release for about a month, but it has now been officially confirmed by Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment.

Considering developer NetherRealm Studios has released other fighting games on PC, such as Mortal Kombat X and the original Injustice: Gods Among Us, it should come as no surprise that Injustice 2 will be joining the party. No official release date has been announced yet, but it is scheduled for this fall.

That leaves a relatively small window (about two months) we will have to wait before we can pit Batman against Superman once again. An open beta was supposed to begin yesterday, but the game’s official Twitter account nixed that notion. Rumor has it that it will begin within a week.

The PC beta will NOT begin tomorrow. Stay tuned for more information!

They have since elaborated, although not by much:

Update on the PC Beta – we’re working on securing a release date. Please stay tuned. We appreciate your patience!

Injustice 2 is a fighting game that brings together heroes and villains from across the DC comic book universe (along with a few guest stars from Mortal Kombat) to battle. It features a robust (and actually pretty good) story mode, along with a variety of online and offline challenges and ways to do battle. The original game was a surprisingly strong title, and the console version of the sequel patched up many of the problems in the first game.

We quite liked the console release of Injustice 2, praising its story, voice acting, presentation, and unique fighting systems. Read our full review of it here. NetherRealm’s fighters have typically emphasized having strong single-player content, which is something some other recent fighting games have struggled with.

Dust off your old arcade sticks, as you’ll want them ready when one of the best fighting games available comes punching its way onto PC. Stick around for more information on the PC release of Injustice 2 as it becomes available.
