A confrontation between a Kentucky state trooper and a Black man at a public fair is gaining attention online after a video showed the man being detained and told he was being cited for disorderly conduct. He repeatedly questioned the charge and became increasingly hostile toward the officer as the confrontation continued.

The video was first shared on Instagram by user quanfrm662 and was later reposted on X by @AmiriKing. It shows a man being held by a trooper who identifies himself as Officer Baker, badge number 679.

The man’s statements in the video suggest the confrontation began after the trooper asked his cousin to remove his hood. The man says he responded by telling his cousin he could “keep walking,” after which Baker allegedly moved to detain him.

“Yo, he just grabbed me for nothing because I told him to keep walking,” the man says at the start of the confrontation. The man repeatedly asks why he is being detained and removed from the fairgrounds. When Baker says he is being cited for “disorderly conduct,” the man questions the charge.

“Disorderly conduct? By talking to you, disorderly conduct?” he asks. He explains that he told his cousin to keep walking after Baker had spoken to him and repeatedly asks how that amounted to disorderly conduct.

The man also says he does not consent to a search and references a Terry frisk. “If you search me, that’s against my Constitution because I don’t consent,” he says. “I don’t consent to any search.”

He tells Baker he plans to report him and accuses the officer of harassing him over the exchange with his cousin. “He didn’t like that I told him to keep walking, so he’s telling me I’m disorderly conduct,” the man says.

The video ends while the man is still questioning the basis for his detention. The outcome is not shown.

Internet Reacts to Kentucky Trooper Detainment

The clip split commenters. One person wrote, “Good work bro! You remained calm and managed your emotions while articulating your rights. And asked all the right questions that the officer couldn’t truly answer.” Another took the opposite view entirely, writing simply, “Thank you, Officer Baker, for keeping the fair safe for everyone.”

Several commenters focused on broader questions about police accountability. One argued, “Nowadays, the police can get away with anything. It really does not matter.” Another pushed the point further on procedure, asking, “Who made the complaint about disorderly conduct? The Police can not be the victim; they must have a non-police victim.”

Other reactions were less sympathetic to the man in the video. One commenter wrote, “I bet you weren’t innocent lol innocent people don’t act like that.” A sixth take tried to sidestep the racial dimension of the exchange altogether: “I don’t care who you are or what color, it’s about respecting a lawful order! I’m not a police lover, I’m just saying, they ask you to do something, do it and move on.”

Kentucky’s disorderly conduct law, under KRS 525.060, defines the offense as engaging in violent, threatening, or tumultuous behavior in public, or refusing a lawful order to disperse. Kentucky State Police has also faced scrutiny in 2026 over trooper conduct during stops and detainments, including federal indictments related to separate excessive-force cases.

No additional details about the specific fair, or any charges that may have resulted, have been independently confirmed.
