Into the Badlands may have never reached the level of popularity or critical acclaim that some of AMC’s other scripted dramas, like The Walking Dead or Breaking Bad, have achieved, but executives apparently saw enough potential in the show to bring it back for a second season. AMC has now released two separate teaser trailers to raise some interest in next month’s season two premiere.
The first season of Into the Badlands never really gelled on the character front; it had lots of good ideas, but never really capitalized on the potential with its characters. One thing most people agreed on was that the show had some insane martial arts-inspired fight sequences. The first teaser, entitled “Sunny is Ready for a Fight,” features Daniel Wu’s Sunny, training as he thinks on a variety of different confrontations:

If you’re looking for some good martial arts action in your television, Into the Badlands has got you covered. The second teaser focuses on The Widow in a similar trailer to the first, with her training as she visualizes a montage of different scenes:

Into the Badlands is a bit difficult to describe – it has a certain Game of Thrones vibe to it, although a much cleaner, martial arts-fueled, alternative reality version. It takes place in the titular Badlands, a feudal realm ruled over by a variety of ruthless barons. Daniel Wu stars as Sunny, a martial arts master who must defend and mentor a teenager named M.K. (Aramis Knight) from these feudal lords, including Emily Beecham’s character, The Widow.
AMC surely hopes these trailers will raise some intrigue for a show that was never quite able to take off. The second season of Into the Badlands debuts on AMC on March 19.
