Irina Shayk breaks major “rules” of dog walking during her latest sighting in New York City following Victoria’s Secret runway show. The model recently solidified her claim to the runway with her head-turning return to the fashion house’s catwalk show for the first time in eight years.
Irina, who last walked the VS runway in 2016 while pregnant with her daughter Le De Seine made an equally significant comeback on Tuesday in a celestial, partially sheer one-piece, with a star-adorned train trailing behind her. She paired the black ensemble with strappy silver high heels and matching jewelry, aligning with the glittering stars adorning the ventral portion of her one-piece. After turning heads at the New York fashion show, the Victoria’s Secret model stirred the pots once again with her latest New York outing.
Irina Shayk Walks Her Dog in New York City After Dominating the Victoria’s Secret Runway
On Thursday, October 17, 2024, Irina Shayk was spotted out in NYC walking her dog, seemingly distracted by her ongoing phone call. For the outing, the Russian model rocked a black faux fur-trimmed coat by channel, pairing it with black tights and matching thigh-high boots. She also had her sunshades on as she strolled through the streets, leash in one hand, and her phone held to her lips with her other hand. Notably, the 38-year-old appeared engulfed in her phone conversation, seemingly oblivious to the puppy strutting along, strung by the leash attached to its collar.
While Irina Shayk’s outing easily passed for a typical morning stroll with her dog, it notably ticked quite a number of boxes in PETA’s “do not” list. To commemorate National Dog Day this year, the Animal rights advocacy group, PETA shared a series of tips for dog owners to adhere to so as to make the dog-walking experience enjoyable for their pets.
Among the listed guidelines, the animal rights group urged dog owners to give their pets ample time to sniff stuff during walks, be more involved in the process rather than get distracted by phones, and opt for a harness, rather than a collar to attach the leash.
PETA Issues Guidelines For Dog Walkers
To further back the guide to the “dos” and “don’ts” of dog walking, the group took to X, formerly Twitter, to demonstrate exactly what the ideal dog walking experience should look like. In a short clip featuring comedian Molly Shannon and White Lotus creator Mike White, the comedian played the dog owner while the latter played the dog with a harness latched to his torso. The first act labeled “How not to Walk Your Dog,” saw Shannon distracted by a phone call while impatiently walking her “dog,” ultimately preventing him from sniffing or fulfilling his other needs.
In the second act, dubbed “How To Walk Your Dog,” a more enthusiastic Shannon hung up her phone call politely before excitedly embarking on her dogwalking adventure. She seemed more present this time, encouraging the happy “dog” to make the most of the outing. The animal rights group then called on dog owners to pay more attention to their pets during walks. Irina Shayk’s latest outing with her dog notably defied some of these PETA-approved tips for a fulfilling dog walking experience.
Experts describe distracted dog walking as succumbing to usual distractions like texting, phone calls, or an ongoing show while walking one’s dog. These actions not only endangers a pet’s life but also that of the dog owner. Some of the major risks involved include injury to the dog or the dogwalker, missing important signals from the dog, dangers of ingesting something harmful when unsupervised, or even more life-threatening accidents. One expert tip to avoid such situations is to leave the cell phone at home, or in the pocket while walking one’s dog.
