On the heels of The Defenders’ announcement trailer, it seems we might get news on the second season of Marvel’s Iron Fist relatively soon. During a panel at Puerto Rico Comic-Con 2017, the show’s star Finn Jones was asked a possible second season for the show.

While there is no direct quote from Jones regarding another season, according to  SuperBroMovies, an announcement for Iron Fist’s next season is imminent. While the story about Danny Rand seems to be the one that has faced the most criticized of all the Marvel Netflix originals, the show’s renewal seems entirely likely.

Fellow Defenders Jessica Jones and Luke Cage already have confirmed second seasons in production, while Daredevil’s sophomore season already aired on Netflix. There is even a Punisher spinoff on its way, so it’s needless to say that Marvel won’t abandon Iron Fist after a few hiccups.

In all actuality, The Defenders will hopefully allow Finn Jones’ character to be fleshed out a bit more, being placed alongside charismatic veterans Mike Colter (Luke Cage), Charlie Cox (Daredevil) and Krysten Ritter (Jessica Jones). Either way, there is still a lot of potential for Danny Rand and The Iron Fist character, as he has yet to even don his notorious costume.

It should be interesting to see who will direct the second season, as the debut showrunner Scott Buck is not well liked by fans, and is widely credited as the source of Iron Fist issues. Before directing the Netflix original, Buck was in charge of Dexter’s final season, also attributed to be the series worst.

Either way, I know we are excited about the upcoming Avengers like Netflix team up known as The Defenders, so be sure to stay tuned for updates. Check back to the site for Iron Fist updates too, as well as all of your other Nerdy News!
