One would hope that our homes would never have faults or breakdowns. Sadly, that is not the case for many, and it is even sadder for those who live in a rented property. Recently, a tenant in Kentucky shared a harrowing experience of their apartment complex suffering from leaking walls. Normally, this would cause the property’s owner to fix the issue as soon as possible, but this poor tenant wasn’t so lucky. It seems that the landlady, despite seeing brown walls coming down from the property’s walls, refuses to fix the issue.
The OP, who is also the tenant living in this apartment complex in Kentucky, shared the shocking footage of his kitchen full of leaking walls. You can observe how the water is brown, which is even more alarming. They also mention that they have contacted the landlady, who is in charge of the property, but she refuses to do anything about it.
While no one expects the landlady to actually go there and fix the leaking walls herself, the normal course of action would be to send a plumber or someone to find the source of the leaking water. Unfortunately, that’s almost a fever dream for the tenant because the property’s owner also refuses to do that.
Thankfully, many people have already shared advice with OP, with most of them suggesting it is time to involve the city in this situation.
“Call your town hall and report your LL. Ask for the water to be shut off before irreversible damage occurs, and tell them that LL refuses to address it.” Suggested one user.
“PM has a job and is not doing it. Completely negligent in their part. They need to resolve this issue ASAP.” Another user said, regarding the landlady.
It is heartbreaking to see situations like this, when the lack of help from a property manager can lead to such awful conditions. Furthermore, this puts the whole apartment complex under a bad spotlight, as no one might want to move here if there are issues as big as this one.
