When you get sniped from the other side of the bayou, you won’t care if the hunter that killed you is on console or PC. Still, cross-platform gameplay remains an important feature of multiplayer extraction shooters like Hunt: Showdown, especially when it comes to playing with friends. After all, if you’re going to confront eldritch horrors and creepy beasts likeย Rotjaw, it’s better to do it with a friend. This spooky extraction shooter has received some major overhauls since its release, but how has multiplayer changed? Here’s what you need to know about cross-platform gameplay in Hunt: Showdown.

Hunt: Showdown Cross-Platform Guide

Hunt: Showdown is a great game, but it only offers partial cross-platform compatibility. For example, if you are gaming on PlayStation 5 and your friend is on PlayStation 4, you can team up and form a lobby together. The same rule applies to Xbox One and Xbox Series players.

On the other hand, cross-platform multiplayer between PlayStation and Xbox is not supported in Hunt: Showdown. Although players from both consoles might end up in the same game via random matchmaking, they can’t send direct invites or create parties. If you want to play with friends who own a different console, your only option is to initiate random matchmaking on the same server and hope to be placed in the same game.

Console and PC Crossplay, Cross-Save, and Cross-Progression

Hunt: Showdownย does not support crossplay between PC users and console players. Hunt: Showdown also doesn’t have cross-save or cross-progression features, unlike cross-platform play, which is still possible. Your achievements, character progress, and in-game currency are tied only to the platform where you earned them. You can’t transfer progress from one platform to another.

To better understand your cross-platform options in Hunt: Showdown, we have put up a list that covers everything:

  1. Partial Cross-Platform Play: Hunt: Showdown supports limited cross-platform play between PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4, as well as between Xbox One and Xbox Series players.
  2. No PlayStation-Xbox Crossplay: Crossplay between PlayStation and Xbox is not available.
  3. No PC-Console Crossplay: Crossplay between PC and consoles is not supported.
  4. No Cross-Save/Progression: The game lacks cross-save and cross-progression features.
