With new Episodes and Acts shaking up the map pool and the meta, many Valorant players have questioned whether the Sunset map is in competitive rotation. Riot Games has many good maps to choose from, but it limits the available pool at any given time to make memorizing and mastering angles and strategies easier. Valorant can be a lot to take in, especially for newcomers. Sunset is an LA-inspired map with several nods to the iconic West Coast city (and just as many ways to die rushing A). Here’s what you need to know about Sunset’s place in the pool.

What is the Sunset Valorant Map?
Sunset pays homage to one of the Sunshine State’s most popular cities. LA is everywhere you look. Even the setting sun gives off a laid-back vibe. It’s an urban map filled with shops and those dreaded traffic jams, and Valorant also included graffiti sourced from local LA artists, adding a more personal and realistic touch to the setting.
As for the playstyle, it’s standard fare, with two spike sites. Most of the emphasis goes on mid-control. It’s a tough spot on the Valorant Sunset map, but getting your team there as quickly as possible is worth it. Once you control it, you’ll be tough to beat.
That hard mid-control point is key. In this case, the devs didn’t want one team to come out over the other. So, both teams are at the same advantage or disadvantage. It urges players to devise additional strategies if they want to win. Rifle players will have a great time with this setup. If you played the Breeze map pre-overhaul, you may find familiarity with the Sunset map. Even with the LA vibes, you still have plenty of room for warfare.
