One of the best things for action-adventure games, at least for completionists, is beating a title in the hardest difficulty mode. This presents players with a challenge but also lets them use all skills and gadgets to their fullest. The Insomniac Spider-Man games have some of the best combat mechanics we’ve seen in recent superhero games, which makes many gamers try beating enemies after pumping up the difficulty. If you’re one of those and want to see all the fighting system has and if you’re rewarded by it, we’ll tell you if there’s a difficulty trophy in Spider-Man 2.

Sadly, there isn’t a difficulty trophy in the game. Well, at least sadly for those looking for an excuse to beat the game in its most challenging mode. The silver lining is you can get the Platinum trophy by playing on the easiest difficulty, which might be great for some people who want to enjoy the ride and the hours of gliding and web-swinging. We can understand this, as Sony and its first-party studios have looked for ways to make things more accessible to people, and having a difficulty trophy could complicate things.

Even if there isn’t a difficulty trophy in Spider-Man 2, playing in the most brutal mode isn’t bad. It incentivizes you to use all the Spider-Men abilities and plan your skill unlocking right. Some of the most formidable enemies require a combination of gadgets and moves, and fighting on the most challenging level is fun. Plus, it is the right way to see Spider-Man fighting against villains. However, you can change the difficulty on the fly if you have second thoughts about your choice.

If, instead of fighting, you’d like to see your friendly neighbor traversing the streets of New York, here’s a video with the new web-swinging mechanics players can expect in the game.
