Is There Split-Screen in Monster Hunter Wilds?

Hunting for a second screen?

Heroism doesn’t have to be lonely. That’s a big theme of Monster Hunter Wilds. You can see it everywhere from the story and cinematics to the gameplay. Co-op is a big feature throughout the franchise, so it’s no surprise Capcom brought it back in Wilds. Teaming up with friends for a Seikret ride to cut down some behemoths? That’s always amazing, but it may still leave one question on your mind. Is split-screen an option in Monster Hunter Wilds? Is a dose of the old couch co-op experience something you can look forward to? Here’s what you need to know.

Although the game is a dream to play with friends, there is no split-screen in Monster Hunter Wilds. Fortunately, you can still team up with friends in online co-op, however. In some ways, chilling at camp and panic-rolling around dragon fire is easier than ever. That’s because Wilds has cross-platform play, making co-op a breeze. It would’ve been nice to have split-screen as an option to emulate the old days, but when Wilds gets so much right, it’s a bit of a nitpick.

Whether you’re adventuring solo or rallying your friends in an online lobby, Monster Hunter Wilds nails the tension of the hunt. It also makes jumping into adventure more accessible than ever. Even after a quest has started, you can use the SOS Flare to call other available players to lend a hand. If none are available, an NPC hunter will still arrive to assist you, ensuring you’re never left to fend for yourself if you don’t want to. Combine features like that with the prominence of your Palico, Seikret, and allies, and it’s obvious how seriously Wilds takes friendship. It would’ve been fun to slay monsters in split-screen, but Wilds isn’t exactly a bad time without it.
