Verdansk returning in Warzone 2 is a fan-favorite idea. But will this ever happen with the current status of the game? Well, a new Warzone 2 easter egg has been found within the DMZ mode’s Barter system, and it points toward the old Verdansk map based on an item.
Call of Duty: Warzone became a popular Battle Royal shooter since it launched in 2020. The gameplay and the CoD feeling of this new game made fans more excited to have a bite of this fresh experience. And with the developer’s support, Warzone started breaking massive records. However, one of the most important reasons for the growth of this free game was its map, AKA Verdansk.
The Warzone‘s Verdansk map was a popular choice in 2020, and in 2021, we saw its change to an older version, tying into the Black Ops Cold War storyline. However, the following route for Warzone and Call of Duty: Vanguard‘s integration ruined the experience. Caldera remains the worst fan-rated Warzone map. And now, with the Al-Mazrah in Warzone 2, many fans still prefer the Verdansk as the better option. There’s always been a chance that Verdansk could be returning to Warzone 2, and a new easter egg doubles its possibility!
Verdansk Easter Egg in Warzone 2 DMZ
(Updated on October 2, 2024 – updated links and format)
Fans have noticed that after the Season 3 Reloaded update, a new item called the “Bunker 11 Keycard” has been added in the DMZ mode. You can obtain this keycard by creating it using the Barter system. But it really is one of the weirdest and most challenging items to create, as it requires rare keycards as ingredients. However, the critical part here is; do you remember Bunker 11?
Back in Warzone 1, there was a secret bunker on the Verdansk map. This location had many myths and mysteries that fans tried to discover, and it was opened after many months of teasing. It was Bunker 11, similar to what we see in the Koschei Complex and Building 21 structures of the Warzone 2 DMZ today. But why is Bunker 11’s keycard in Warzone 2? Could we see Verdansk returning in Warzone 2 and DMZ? Well, the description for this item makes this Warzone 2 easter egg even more thrilling.
“Old Keycard seems to be damaged after some accident.”
The accident in this description probably references the nuke event and the destruction of Verdansk. After the events of Warzone 1 and Modern Warfare 2019, Verdansk is completely destroyed. However, a fan theory by ModenasHD says that Building 21’s map is in fact, under Verdansk’s Downtown area.
Take a look at the image above. This simple reference could be the way that the developers are trying to bring Verdansk back in Warzone 2. And this totally makes sense if these references keep getting more and more in each season until the full reveal of Building 21’s exact location. This is while with Bunker 11 Keycard item in DMZ, we are probably going to see lots of exciting updates in this regard in the future seasons of MW2 and Warzone 2. Maybe players can finally see Verdansk returning in Warzone 2 in the form of a restricted DMZ area or a map for extra operations.
