A Texas woman who says she has always voted to put Democrats in power in her state is tearfully hoping it will work out this time. For over thirty years, the GOP has dominated Texas politics, consistently winning the governor’s mansion and both U.S. Senate seats.
The woman, Alisha Revel, sat in her car crying as she expressed her desire to see a change, at least in her lifetime. She said she was losing hope that it would ever happen after consistently voting blue in every election without seeing the outcome she wanted.
“Texas is always red,” Alisha tearfully said. “It feels like my vote doesn’t matter but I try every time.” She choked up and covered her face.
Alisha revealed that she had cast her vote for Democratic candidates James Talarico and Gina Hinojosa. She said that although it felt “really good” to do so, she still didn’t “have hope that it’s gonna work.”
Alisha expressed her feelings in a TikTok post on Monday, which has received over 600,000 views. The clip has also received more than 100,000 likes, with many commenters expressing support for her.

Many commenters comforted the woman, agreeing that they, too, wanted to see Texas turn blue. One resident said, “Hey babe! I am in rural madison county texas and I voted down ballot blue. My entire surrounding area is republican and its soooo depressing.”
Another sympathized with her, reassuring her that her vote “does matter.” They also added, “We are so close! Thank you for still voting even though it feels this way here. Signed another blue girl in Texas.”
Someone else wrote, “We’re in for a change this time around! I feel it! You’re not alone in feeling like this. We voted blue with you.”
Voters from other states also joined the conversation. “Blue dot in Oklahoma. I hope we can flip Texas and Oklahoma,” one person wrote. Another commented, “This is exactly how I feel as a Floridian, it truly hurts but I don’t give up I keep trying.” A third encouraged, “As someone from Arizona it FINALLY worked for us, don’t give up hope.” Another chimed in, “California here, we’re rooting for you all!!”
The November midterm elections are now a week away. Talarico has emerged as a highly competitive candidate in the race for the U.S. Senate. He will face Republican Attorney General Ken Paxton on Tuesday, November 3. Meanwhile, Hinojosa will face Republican Gov. Greg Abbott in the gubernatorial race.
