James Corden has tested positive for Covid-19. As a result, a few tapings of The Late Late Show are canceled.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Corden announced he tested positive for Covid-19 through an Instagram post. Corden said in the post, “I’m fully vaccinated, boosted, and because of this, am fortunate enough to say I feel completely fine.”
Corden is the latest in a series of talk show hosts to test positive for Covid-19. Jimmy Fallon tested positive over the holiday break, and Seth Meyers announced that he had tested positive earlier this week. Whoopi Goldberg also had a positive Covid-19 test this week, causing her to take a leave from The View. All of these talk show hosts have only had mild symptoms, and they credit their vaccinations and boosters for that.
All of these talk show hosts are among a growing list of celebrities who have tested positive for Covid-19 recently. Other names include Goldberg’s View co-host Sunny Hostin, Oscar-winning actress Lupita Nyong’o, Will & Grace star Debra Messing, three members of the K-pop group BTS, actress Ashley Tisdale, and actor Hugh Jackman. This hotbed of Covid-19 cases has led to several entertainment events being canceled. Jackson’s positive test led to the cancellation of several performances of The Music Man on Broadway. A surge of Covid-19 cases led to the cancellation of the premiere event for HBO Max’s Peacemaker. All of these cancellations and more are evidence that the entertainment industry is getting hit hard by Covid-19. With the Omicron variant having such a surge, it’s uncertain when this wave of positive tests and event cancellations is going to end.
