The Peacemaker TV series is the latest piece of DC Entertainment content coming to HBO Max. The first episode of the show is scheduled to release on the streaming service on January 13. Originally, an event was set to be held in Los Angeles celebrating the show’s premiere a few days prior. However, according to a report from Deadline, the Peacemaker premiere event has been canceled due to the recent surge of COVID cases in LA, and across the United States.
This is not the only red-carpet event that has recently been affected by the rising number of COVID cases in the city of Los Angeles. The premiere event for the Disney+ series, The Book of Boba Fett, was also postponed for the same reason. If the trend of rising COVID cases continues, The Book of Boba Fett premiere event may be forced into cancellation entirely.
Whether there is a premiere event or not, Peacemaker will still debut on HBO Max on January 13. The series follows the freedom-loving Peacemaker as he kills anyone and everyone who stands in the way of peace. The character was recently introduced to audiences in James Gunn’s 2021 movie, The Suicide Squad. Professional wrestler and actor, John Cena, is reprising the role for the series after quickly becoming a fan favorite.
Like The Suicide Squad, the Peacemaker series was written by James Gunn, who also directed five of the eight episodes. Along with John Cena, Danielle Brooks, Freddie Stroma, Jennifer Holland, Chukwudi Iwuji, Steve Agee, and Robert Patrick comprise the primary cast. Three episodes will release on the 13, with new episodes being added every week until the finale on February 17.
