James Corden is once again making headlines for his temperamental behavior. However, this time, the British media personality used his anger for good. Corden, who has been called “abusive” in the past for being rude to hospitality staff, threw a fit at the airport. He was on a British Airways flight from Portugal to London over the weekend when things got bizarre.
While on ground in Lisbon, Corden, who rocked patterned shorts with a black polo shirt, looked visibly upset. He spoke passionately to a female airport staff while surrounded by fellow passengers. Although the moment paints a narrative that the former host was angry, a passenger on the flight says otherwise. A woman named Vanessa spoke to Metro about the incident, saying Corden was actually speaking up for other disappointed passengers. She described him as the voice of reason.
The female passenger claimed the problem began when the plane which took off from Faro had an emergency landing. She says the aircraft only circled for about 45 minutes, never gaining altitude. “Basically, what had happened was the flaps on the airplane wing which are supposed to go down when you are in the air won’t go down,” she explained.
As a result, the plan had to land in Lisbon where the passengers remained on the tarmac for about three hours. Despite the uncomfortable situation, Vanessa claimed Corden was in great spirits and interacted with everyone.
“He walked up and down the aisles talking to people, and let everybody take a selfie with him. He was just really nice, he would have been well within his rights to sit and sulk in his seat like the rest of us would be doing but he didn’t.”
James Corden Hailed As A Hero
However, it wasn’t until passengers disembarked and were in the airport at Lisbon that things began irking Corden. Vanessa revealed that while in the terminal, the passengers were left without any staff attending to them. That’s when the comedian stepped into action. “The people he’s speaking to in that picture are the flight staff on our plane” she told the publication. Corden helped address the staff about putting people in the wrong immigration queue.
When that was sorted, another issue arose and again Corden came to their rescue. Vanessa recalled the BA staff informing the passengers that only club flyers or gold flyers would get free hotel rooms when Corden spoke up about the discrimination.
“James was a club flyer and he stood there, and was like ‘What about all these people who’ve got all these kids with them?’ like saying that’s not acceptable. It’s not right.”
It is unsure if Corden used his celebrity status to effect any change. However, Vanessa praised him for being the people’s hero, saying, “He was a really nice guy both times.” It seems James Corden is learning from his past mistakes and trying to be less bad vibes.
