While the release of season two of Peacemaker is still undetermined, we may see a breakout character appear in advance. James Gunn is teasing that the Peacemaker character Adrian Chase, a.k.a. Vigilante, might appear in the DCU before the release of season two. Gunn teased this possibility on his Threads account. The character, portrayed by Freddie Stroma, was one of the best highlights of Peacemaker’s first season. The assassin’s over-the-top violence streak, erratic behavior, and Stroma’s comedic delivery made the character endlessly entertaining. Peacemaker fans have been desperate to see Vigilante’s second season, and James Gunn may have the cameo they need to hold them over.
When Will ‘Peacemaker’s’ Vigilante Make Another Appearance?
Exactly when Gunn plans on having Vigilante make an appearance is unknown. It’s been over a year since Peacemaker season one ended, and season two is still in the distance. Gunn has said he will get to work on the second season as soon as he finishes filming Superman: Legacy, which is set to be released in 2024.
However, James Gunn has two big series projects in the works: the animated Creature Commandos and the Peacemaker spin-off series Waller. Both shows are set to feature characters from Gunn’s movie The Suicide Squad, which introduced Christopher “Peacemaker” Smith to audiences. Waller is designed to bridge Peacemaker seasons one and two, so Vigilante will likely appear in that series. However, Creature Commandos is also a possibility.
Wherever Vigilante shows up, fans will be excited to see the character many consider to be the breakout star of Peacemaker. It was certainly a significant role for Freddie Stroma, who up until then was probably best known for 2009’s Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. While some DC fans are frustrated with James Gunn, they will soon thank him for a good dose of Vigilante.
