Vanderpump Rules star James Kennedy has found himself in hot water … again. Fans of the reality star will know that it isn’t hard for James to stay out of trouble. During his time on the show, he got into massive arguments with his co-stars. He also fought intensely with his boss, Lisa Vanderpump, and he was involved in a problematic relationship with his cast member, Kristen Doute. Eventually, James got his life together (as seen on the show). However, things have now hit the fan.
According to several reports, DJ James Kennedy was arrested in December 2024 in Burbank, California. The documents reveal that police officers arrived at the scene at 11:30 PM after James was involved in an argument with another party. “The investigation determined it was a domestic incident, leading to Mr. Kennedy’s arrest,” the police said, per TMZ. He was later arrested on “suspicion of misdemeanor domestic violence” before posting $20,000 bail.
Kennedy’s girlfriend, Ally Lewber, was a prominent character during the previous season of Pump Rules. They share a home and a dog together; however, it’s unclear what their relationship status is currently.
James Kennedy Speaks Out After Being Arrested
Once the news of James Kennedy’s arrest made its rounds, his attorneys jumped into action to try and calm the noise. According to a statement made to Us Weekly, Kennedy’s legal team is “conducting our own investigation into the allegations.” They continued, saying, “We understand that there were no injuries, and we are hoping that, after careful review, the city’s attorneys will decide not to file formal charges.”
The news of James’ arrest isn’t the first time the reality star has been accused of abusing women. In early 2024, a few of his Bravo peers seemingly hinted that the truth would be revealed. On social media, Kristen once claimed James allegedly “shoved me into the bushes” while filming a scene. But according to her, it was all left on the chopping room floor.
“Ugh, believe women,” someone wrote on Instagram following the news. “Kristen and Raquel told us this and watched us lift this man up over the last year because he was in Ariana’s corner.”
“See, y’all were quick to call him the Bravo King,” someone else said. “He had that negative gross energy the first episode he was on.”
“He’s been unstable and shown aggression since day one,” a third fan posted. “I’m shocked no one has paid attention to it.”
James Is Grieving After Being Fired From Vanderpump Rules
Before the news of James Kennedy’s arrest became public, fans were still processing the news that Season 12 would feature an entirely new cast. Bravo shared the big news several weeks ago after months of keeping watchers on the edges of their seats. According to producers, the network is excited to head in a different direction with new SURvers who are ready to make memorable television. However, the OG stars have been in their feelings quite a bit.
James’ girlfriend, Ally, told Us Weekly that the reality star was “grieving” the loss of the show. Although she believed the DJ was spending time reflecting, she said she could tell he was “a little low.”
“It was just an insane part of his life. I think he’s proud — I know he’s so proud — of where he’s at now compared to where he started the show.”
James addressed his fans with an emotional note on Instagram in November 2024.
“I can’t lie; I’m holding back some tears as I write this,” he wrote. “It’s been a pleasure being a part of VPR and filling your TV screens with our lives over the past decade.” He continued, saying, “It’s been a wild ride, and I’m excited to see what the future holds. Although this is a bittersweet ending for me, this is just the beginning!”
