Horror director Eli Roth has found his Patricia Tannis in actress Jamie Lee Curtis. Fans will immediately recognize the unique archaeologist who plays a vital part in the video game series. The actress has been rocking the silver screen for decades, and she’s ready to take on a new character.
Laurie Strode Joins the Borderlands Lineup
The most recent additions to the Borderlands film adaptation have been trailing to the news like bread crumbs. Back in May of 2020, Cate Blanchett was the first to join the cast as Lilith, the powerful Siren. Kevin Hart joined last month with the announcement that he’ll be playing the highly trained soldier Roland. In like manner, today unveiled the casting for Dr. Tannis with Halloween legend Jamie Lee Curtis, who will play a role in locating the Vault.
Not many details have been spilled for the Borderlands movie, including Jamie Lee Curtis’ role in the story. Aside from the mention of a few vault hunters, Krieg, and Claptrap, we know only just a bit. Reportage from a June 12, 2019 Full Circle Cinema article on the movie’s plot wrote:
The movie will find Lilith in the Atlas Corporation space prison when the CEO gives her the chance to earn her freedom by rescuing his daughter, the foul-mouthed Tiny Tina, on the planet Pandora. The mission takes an unexpected turn when it becomes clear that the little girl is the key to unlocking a valuable alien vault that Atlas wants all for itself.”
Eli Roth (Cabin Fever, Knock Knock, and Hostel) will be behind the camera for the game’s cinematic adaptation. Award-winning Chernobyl writer Craig Mazin has provided a script for the movie. Avi Arad and Ari Arad will be producing through their Arad Productions company. Erik Feig is producing through Picturestart. In addition, founder of Gearbox Entertainment Company Randy Pitchford serves as an executive producer alongside Strauss Zelnick, CEO and chairman over at Take-Two Interactive.
