Actress Jane Fonda has revealed that she has been diagnosed with cancer and that she is undergoing chemotherapy. According to People Magazine, the actress has been diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and has been undergoing chemotherapy for the past six months. The 84-year-old actress said in the post, “This is a very treatable cancer. 80% of people survive, so I feel very lucky.” Fonda added that she is handling chemotherapy well and “will not let any of this interfere with my climate activism.” Fonda has also been active in her acting career with her film Book Club 2 – The Next Chapter currently in post-production.
Jane Fonda Thriving With Latest Cancer Diagnosis
According to The Hollywood Reporter, this isn’t Fonda’s first battle with cancer. The actress has had many skin removal procedures, including a portion removed from her lip. In 2010, she had a non-invasive breast tumor removed. Fonda said in her post, “Cancer is a teacher and I’m paying attention to the lessons it holds for me. One thing it’s shown me already is the importance of community. Of growing and deepening one’s community so that we are not alone. And the cancer, along with my age –almost 85– definitely teaches the importance of adapting to new realities.”
Despite her cancer diagnosis, the Grace and Frankie star continues to thrive. She remains committed to her craft and activism, especially environmental activism. “The midterms are looming, and they are beyond consequential so you can count on me to be right there together with you as we grow our army of climate champions,” she said.
