Host Kelly Clarkson and the audience were dumbfounded when they saw Jay Leno’s new face after his accident. Jay Leno’s fire accident in November shocked many and left them scared.
However, thanks to quick emergency services, Jay survived the terrifying accident. Get the details below.
Jay Leno’s New Face Healed Up Like The Old One
The comedian’s new face is unbelievably the same as his old face before the fire accident. Jay Leno’s fire accident caused burns to his face, arms, and hands.
Jay Leno debuted his healed face after suffering third-degree burns in a gasoline fire while working on a car.
“This is a brand new face,” he declared to host Kelly Clarkson. “It is. It’s unbelievable.”
Reflecting on the scary incident, Jay told the story with some fictitious details thrown in. He explained that he was working on a car when it caught fire before joking, “I had been eating a Flamin’ Hot Dorito and when I bit into it, it set my face on fire.”
More seriously, Jay noted that the accident gave him third-degree burns. Now with healed skin, he quipped off the incredible transformation while pointing at his chin, “You’d think there’d be a zipper here or something but no.”
Jay also joked that he is getting the title of the new face of comedy twice in his career. “I got it once in the ’80s and now I get it again.”
Jay Leno Had A Pretty Bad Fire Accident
There were no Doritos involved in Jay’s fire accident. The TV host told Hoda Kotb what happened in a December 14 interview for Today.
“It was a 1907 White Steam Car. The fuel line was clogged, so I was underneath it. It sounded clogged and I said, ‘Blow some air through the line,’ and so he did.”
The writer said he suddenly got a face full of gas, and “then the pilot light jumped and my face caught on fire.”
Thankfully, Jay’s good friend Dave Killackey was there to take quick life-saving action. Dave hurriedly pulled Jay out from under the car, stood above him, and put out the fire.
Meanwhile, Jay drove himself home after the incident. He later checked in to Grossman Burn Center in Los Angeles. The actor spent 10 days under their care before being released into the clinic’s outpatient facility.
Tim Allen also visited him at the hospital beside his friend, who was by his side during the accident. At the time, Tim shared that Jay’s good spirits were intact while on the mend.
He shared that they goofed and laughed together. Thankfully, Jay Leno’s fire accident didn’t scar him permanently or kill him.
