Jenna Ortega‘s glass dress is turning heads. While making an appearance on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, the Wednesday actress revealed she was wearing a dress entirely made of glass. While fans thought she looked stunning, they also couldn’t help but worry about her safety.
Does Jenna Ortega’s Glass Dress Prove Pain is Beauty? Fans Share Their Opinions
Jenna Ortega appeared on the late-night talk show to promote her latest film, Death of a Unicorn. Before officially beginning her interview with Stephen Colbert, the host took a moment to acknowledge Ortega’s unique look. “That is a beautiful dress you’re wearing. What is it made of?” he asked.
The Wednesday star thanked Colbert and revealed her dress was made of glass. Due to its material, Ortega said that every time she sits, she feels pieces of her dress “poking my ass.” After hearing this, Colbert asked his team to “have some medics stand by” in case a shard broke and hurt Ortega. Despite being in slight pain, the actress reassured Colbert she was okay. “I feel uncomfortable but extremely comfortable at the same time,” she said.
Fans were glad to hear that Jenna Ortega’s glass dress wasn’t causing her much harm. After debuting the look, many people expressed concern for her online. “I hope she didn’t get cut,” one fan said. “Isn’t it dangerous?” another asked. Some even wondered whether wearing the dress was really worth the potential risks. “Why wear that?” read one comment.
Jenna Ortega’s glass dress consisted of a gorgeous dark red mosaic design with floral details. According to an online listing, it’s from Oscar de la Renta’s fall 2025 collection and it’s worth $13K. Ortega paired the pricey gown with matching maroon lipstick and black lip liner. Her nails also appeared to have been painted a dark red. She finished her look with black heels and gold jewelry.
A Perfect Look for the Horror Icon
Ortega’s dark look matches her aesthetic perfectly as one of this generation’s scream queens. She earned the title after acting in a number of scary movies over the years. She first tapped in the horror genre with the release of Insidious: Chapter 2 in 2013. Ortega made a small appearance in the film. However, she had a bigger role in the 2020 comedy slasher The Babysitter: Killer Queen.
After starring in other horror films like Studio 666, X, and American Carnage, Ortega became responsible for helping revive a number of well-loved scary franchises. Those include the new Scream and Beetlejuice Beetlejuice movies and Netflix’s Wednesday series, which is inspired by The Addams Family.
While she’s been in so many big projects, Wednesday is what Jenna Ortega is most known for. The first season of the Netflix show premiered in November 2022. Its second season is scheduled to premiere sometime in 2025.
Fans who can’t wait to see her on screen again can catch her latest film, Death of a Unicorn, in the meantime. The A24 movie, which also stars Paul Rudd and Will Poulter, hits theaters on March 28.
