Jennifer Lopez experienced an uncomfortable situation in Mexico. The star was in the country to promote her new Netflix film Atlas. However, the press tour was overshadowed by drama that happened during a panel. While discussing her latest acting project, Lopez was confronted about the rumors she’s divorcing Ben Affleck. Although the question was out of line, the singer offered a brief comment that hinted at her feelings toward the matter.

The entertainment news program El Gordo y La Flaca shared the exchange on Instagram. In their video, someone off camera asked Lopez whether the “rumors” about her and Affleck were “real.” The singer neither confirmed nor denied anything. Instead, she awkwardly smiled in response, clearly uncomfortable with the question. The audience was also irritated. They groaned as soon as the topic was mentioned.
Lopez’s Atlas co-star Simu Liu especially wasn’t having it. He defended Lopez by telling the questioner:
Okay, we’re not doing that.

However, that didn’t stop the person from pressing the issue, which forced Lopez to eventually intervene. She told the interviewer:
You know better than that.

Lopez clearly didn’t want to entertain any questions regarding her personal life. Since the panel had gone off-topic, a moderator was forced to end the discussion earlier than expected.
The awkward situation comes amid rumors that Lopez and Affleck are growing apart since they appear to not be living together. A day before the panel, a source connected to Lopez fueled the divorce rumors by telling People her marriage “is not in the best place at the moment.”
Lopez wed Affleck in July 2022 after rekindling her relationship with the actor in April 2021.
