“Jhin’s assembling his gun and orchestrating his grand entrance onto the Rift. He’s meticulous and calculating – League’s slowest marksman yet. But when the murderous artist gets you in his sights, when he catches you off-guard, there’s not much that’ll save you from an inevitable, perfect death.”

We are only a few days into Patch 6.2, and with it, the bombastic and vain personality of Jhin the Virtuoso is being mobilized onto Summoners Rift. League of Legend’s newest champion release introduces a new ADC who is unlike any other on the current roster. With many players already declaring Season 6 as “the Season of ADCs”, it is not surprising to see additional marksmen finding their way onto The Rift. Taking into consideration that three (Jhin, Kindred, Kalista) of the nine champion releases have been marksmen, one could speculate that Riot Games has been intentionally building up to this fan declared “ADC season.” This is just Jhin’s style, making his grand entrance precisely timed for the parting velvet curtains of Season 6.

Jhin

Let’s pull back the curtain on this egotistical gunslinger and take a second look at his unique role–Jhin truly is a sniper. Caitlyn, the Sheriff of Piltover has been the longtime undisputed best sniper of the current ADCs. Boasting an auto attack range of 650, Caitlyn will hold her spot for best in the show (a title Jhin surely covets) when it comes to basic attacks. But it’s curtains for Caitlyn and time for a new sniper – enter Jihn. While Caitlyn’s ultimate ability “Ace in the Hole” has a commanding range of 3000 over Jhin’s “Curtain Call” with a 2500 range, it should be remembered that Jhin is able to fire four consecutive shots, amounting to much greater damage potential. All rounds  of “Curtain Call,” however, are skill-shots, requiring practice by players to maximize effective play.

As a true sniper, he requires opportunistic moments to whittle down his opponents health in lane-trading, and a frontline of teammates during team fights. While listed as a marksman, many high profile players such as Nightblue3 have demonstrated a high level of play with The Virtuoso as a formidable jungler. Here you can witness Nightblue3’s 1000 AD Jhin jungle. With the dust still settling after his initial release, Jhin’s play-style will continue to be revealed over time. Take a look at Jhin’s stats and overview before you go spend precious IP to cast him for the role as “your new main.”
