Have you ever heard of Vestaria Saga? Yeah, me neither. But it’s a thing. And according to the press release I am looking at, it has been around for a while. It just hasn’t been available outside of Japan until now. Looking at the trailer, I am reminded of games like Fire Emblem and Shining Force, which isn’t a coincidence. Shouzou Kaga and Mayumi Hirotaare are both part of the development team for Vestaria Saga. If those names sound familiar, it’s because Shouzou Kaga was the creator of Fire Emblem, and Mayumi Hirotaare is an artist who has worked on the series. So even though this game has been around since 2016, and I’ve never heard of it, there is some real talent involved with it.

In Vestaria Saga, you take on the role of a knight named Zadrian. And you and your band of followers will take on an empire to save your kingdom. It seems like pretty standard stuff for this genre. Stories set against the backdrop of war can be exciting. And there are 20 different characters to recruit. Which is something I can get behind. Many of my favorite games have a lot in common with Vestaria Saga. The release also mentioned multiple endings, a full English script translated from the original Japanese by a veteran translator, and two different difficulty modes. It seems like it will include all the mechanics you’d expect from this kind of game.

Vestaria Saga I: War of the Scions will be releasing on Steam. It will be available on December 27th. I didn’t see anything about a price. But I can’t imagine it will be expensive. If you’re a fan of Fire Emblem or similar games, it seems like this would be worth your time to check out.
