During his Directors Guild of America Awards monologue, Judd Apatow mocks Tom Cruise over height, parenting, Scientology beliefs, and risky movie stunts. Actor Tom Cruise is still reveling in the success of his last movie project, 2022’s “Top Gun: Maverick,” voted the biggest movie of the year.
Late last year, Cruise took time out of his busy schedule filming “Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning” parts one and two to thank fans for the achievement.
In the video, Cruise can be seen thanking his fans for their support before jumping off a plane. While the actor drops from the sky, he shows no hint of discomfort as he wishes his fans a safe and happy holiday.
The video was recorded on the set of Cruise’s upcoming “Mission Impossible” flick. The first part of the two-part movie is set to be released this year, and it is the seventh installment in the popular franchise.
Meanwhile, “Mission Impossible — Dead Reckoning” part two is scheduled to be released in theaters in 2024

Judd Apatow Mocks Tom Cruise
Judd Apatow served as the host at the 75th Directors Guild of America Awards on Saturday night. One of the highlights of the otherwise low-key event was when Apatow let loose on Cruise during his DGA awards monologue.
Apatow shockingly took an extended time roasting the actor on everything from his height to his parenting to his Scientology beliefs.
The movie is already generating enough buzz, and ahead of its release, the team recently released a clip showing Cruise riding a motorcycle off a cliff.
Judd Apatow, who was hosting the event for the fourth time, started by taking a swipe at Tom Cruise’s diminutive frame. He said:
“visual effects in [Top Gun:] Maverick were so top-notch I couldn’t even see the stack of phone books Tom Cruise sat on to reach the flight controls.”
The director continued the tirade by claiming the “Mission Impossible” star likes to jump off tall buildings because nobody can tell how short he is from there.
Apatow then recalled Cruise’s famous appearance on the Oprah Winfrey Show in 2005, where he jumped up and down the couch. He then teased how everyone thought, “What a lunatic.’ Now he drives a motorcycle off a cliff and then BASE jumps, and we’re all like, ‘Tom’s fine.'”
He continued:
“Tom is not fine, something is wrong right now,”
Apatow then told the actor to calm down, citing his age, and advised him to consider using CGI and noted how people would hardly know the difference.
He then switched to Cruise’s relationship with the church of Scientology before rounding up by claiming the only thing Cruise seems to be afraid of is co-parenting and taking antidepressants.
Cruise’s Top Gun: Maverick director Joseph Kosinski was at the event and did not seem too impressed by the jokes. For many others, the jokes seemed a little too personal and out of taste.
