Colin Trevorrow directed Jurassic World Dominion, the last slated Jurassic Park movie that rounds out the trilogy with Chris Pratt. Although this is the last one on the table, surely there is still a future where the dinosaurs return to the big screen. In an interview with Collider, the director gave his thoughts about what should be done in the future for the franchise. If it were to be one thing, it would not be a reboot.
“This is just my own personal opinion,” he said. “One of the challenges of this franchise is that to reboot it, you have to remake Jurassic Park. And I weep for whoever takes that on, because that is one of the greatest movies ever made. And so I think in a lot of ways, our only choice is to move forward and to expand. Because going back there and redoing Spielberg and Crichton, best of luck.”
If there is one thing Jurassic Park can do, it is to expand. The original movie was an adaptation of the novel of the same name. The success of the film got Crichton to write a sequel, which followed with a trilogy on the movie side. Fast forward to over a decade later, the Guardians of the Galaxy star led the new trilogy. Now at the end of the trilogy with Jurassic World Dominion, maybe another expansion could happen once again.
Colin Trevorrow and the Jurassic World Trilogy
That future is still uncertain as no plans have been revealed yet. Until then, fans can check out Jurassic World Dominion as it releases this week. The film stars Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Laura Dern, Sam Neill, Jeff Goldblum, DeWanda Wise (Fatherhood), and Mamoudou Athie (The Get Down).
The film is directed by Colin Trevorrow, who has since directed the entire Jurassic World trilogy. It is written by Trevorrow and Emily Carmichael (Pacific Rim: Uprising). Trevorrow executive produces with Tim Wellspring, Steven Spielberg, and Alexandra Derbyshire. Winston Azzopardi, Patrick Crowley, Charlie Endean, Annys Hamilton, and Frank Marshall produce.
