The end of the year is near, and dance lovers know precisely that the best season is approaching. This October brings Just Dance 2025 Edition, just in time to go wild with the new repertoire of songs and modes and, for many, to catch up in our exercise routines. Ubisoft brings some of the best features of the previous games, especially from the 2023 and 2024 versions, for Just Dance 2025. Fortunately, 2025 brings so many things that make this one of the best iterations of this franchise.

Just Dance is always a great choice, whether for casual fun with friends, exercise, or those who love learning new choreographies. More Reggaeton, K-Pop, and a mix of funky songs like SpongeBob’s Birthday are some of the few tracks you can expect. While the overall gameplay aspect remains the same, the addition of brand-new features, a more extensive list of songs, and terrific visuals make this edition a must-have for my fellow dancers.

Just Dance always tries to be at the cutting edge of the game world and achieves it in most of its games. I love that for this version, they inherited the Camera Control from 2024 because it is one of the best ways to play. It’s fantastic how Ubisoft is taking advantage of almost everyone carrying their cell phone and turning it into a new controller. Yet it’s even more impressive how, with the Camera Controller, we can forget about carrying our heavy cell phones, locking them by accident, or fearing them flying out if they slip out of our hands.

Regarding accessibility, Ubisoft thought of everything to facilitate the experience so that everyone can play without buying even more expensive controllers. However, it is a pity that there is no official option for the Just Dance Controller app for the smartwatch.

All these tools are handy, but they still have some bugs. Several times, my cell phone marked a connection error with the game, and I only realized after a while that I was not receiving any score. I also had several internet connection errors, and several songs from 2025 Edition and Just Dance+ had an error before starting to play.

To help the Camera Controller, you need a lot of space and good lighting, and I had to shrink a bit to fit into the silhouette, or it wouldn’t capture me in the shot. Also, because the camera needed my cell phone, it drained my battery, but that isn’t the game’s fault. However, there is a limited number of songs with this game mode, which might be a bummer for some. Also, you can’t play with a camera in multi-player, which I think is a downside when Just Dance is a better experience playing with more people.

Moving to Just Dance 2025 will be a piece of cake for those who played either of the two previous versions. The game continues with the same interface divided by Playlist, Songs, and Home, including seasonal challenges or unique suggestions for each user. The Workout Mode is ideal for keeping track of calories burned in real-time, how many songs you dance, and the actual time you danced because it doesn’t count how long it took us to choose the next song.

I could even compare it with my health app, and they didn’t have that much difference. It is a great option for those who want to use it for training. I managed to burn 250 calories in 30 minutes; the Extreme mode songs or those with a higher difficulty are the best for sweating more.

I also appreciate that the team always thinks of all its users regarding accessibility, such as filters to show songs with movements on the floor or to be seated. So, every player can find a choreography that best suits them. It is even nice to see that with Bang Bang! (My Neurodivergent Anthem) by Galantis Just Dance will address issues such as ADHD and masking.

This year, the catalog expanded with 40 songs, some of which have unique versions. For example, if you are an Ariana Grande fan, you will have a great time with her song pack. Also, there are more pop divas like Lady Gaga or Sabrina Carpenter. These artists’ songs had some of my favorite choreographies but weren’t limited to them. Songs such as Unstoppable by Sia, Whenever Wherever by Shakira, and Paint The Town Red by Doja Cat were great. If you are looking for more, Just Dance gives it to you, mainly with the seasonal songs and other challenges. Still, the Just Dance+ subscription is definitely the best option for players who invest their time in mastering each choreography.

If that’s not enough, if you or your friends have one of the other versions, you can enjoy the entire repertoire on any of your platforms with Ubisoft Connect. I noticed that in the 2025 Edition catalog, several songs appeared with the symbol of the store to buy since I do not have Just Dance 2024. Also, I thought I had to buy all the versions on the same platform, so at first, I was a little disappointed, but I was so wrong. Fortunately, I remembered I had the 2023 Edition on the Nintendo Switch and verified that I could play the 2023 and 2025 songs on both consoles.

Just Dance 2025 Edition couldn’t come at a better time. With the holidays approaching, you can be the life of the party with dance duels or try to keep your weight down with Thanksgiving turkey and Christmas dinner getting dangerously close. Whether you want to work out or have some fun alone or with friends, Just Dance will ensure you have a great time at the same time you sweat off. The repertoire of songs is always one of the most important aspects, as there will always be a song or choreography for everyone’s musical taste or physical abilities.

While I had several failures, like trying to pair my phone or losing the connection mid-dance, the truth is that it didn’t go beyond re-entering the code and restarting the song—it didn’t kill my dancer’s vibe. I have always appreciated the option of using cell phones as controllers, but they are getting bigger and more difficult to maneuver. So, it would be terrific to include the new gadgets out there in our dance-offs. Even if you have never played any other Just Dance, this edition is ideal for jumping in because of its slick interface and compatibility.
