Sony Pictures Television and FX have officially greenlit Justified: City Primeval, which will continue FX’s Justified show that saw its end in 2015. According to Deadline, Timothy Olyphant will be reprising his role of the tough-as-nails U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens. Earlier this year, there had been reports of an unspecified Justified production in the works with Timothy Olyphant returning.
Welcome to Miami, Givens
The original showrunner, Graham Yost, will be a big part of Justified: City Primeval along with writers Dave Andron and Michael Dinner, and Timothy Olyphant, set to be credited as executive producer. The show will take place 8 years after Raylan Givens, played by Olyphant, has left Kentucky and has established himself in the Miami area. Givens has an unfortunate incident happen on a Florida highway which leads him to Detroit to track down Clement Mansell, A.K.A. The Oklahoma Wildman who has been a sociopathic problem for the city of Detroit.
President of FX Entertainment, Eric Schrier, had some words about the returning creative team:
Justified was one of the most critically acclaimed shows of the past decade and an adaption of Elmore Leonard’s work that was so colorfully brought to life by Timothy Olyphant as Raylan Givens, Graham Yost and the entire team of producers, writers, directors and cast. To have this group come together again with Tim as Raylan in a new and different Elmore Leonard story is thrilling. I want to thank our showrunners Dave and Michael, and their fellow executive producers Tim, Graham, Sarah and Carl, the Elmore Leonard estate as well as our partners at Sony Pictures Television, for making this possible
Justified was nominated for 8 Emmys, won 2 Emmys, and even won a Peabody award during their 6 season run on FX.
