Canadian music superstar, Justin Bieber, calls out H&M on social media for selling his merch without the requisite approval. The 28-year-old is obviously unhappy as he took to his Instagram stories to slam the fast-fashion retailer for featuring his image and lyrics in their merch.
He told his fans that he didn’t permit or approve of any of the merch collection put up by the clothing line. Then he advised his 270 million followers not to patronize them. Continuing in his rage, the star added that H&M’s merch of him is trash.
As seen on the H&M U.S. website, just one item from the collection is available for purchase. It’s a canvas tote bag that goes for $15, and it’s printed with photos of the singer.
As expected, Justin Bieber’s fans joined him in calling out H&M for selling his merch without approval. They started sharing photos on Twitter, including other items like sweatshirts and a phone case, all featuring the star’s intellectual property.
What’s H&M’s response to the star’s claim?

Fans Join Justin Bieber to Call Out H&M For Selling His Merch Without Approval by Sharing Photos on Twitter
Justin Bieber’s followers and fans stormed H&M’s Instagram for selling their merch without his or his team’s approval. The music star’s fans joined him in telling the clothing line to remove the ‘unapproved’ products from their site.
A fan commented saying H&M selling the singer’s merch in that manner is sketchy. Another of the singer’s followers told the clothing line that it’s a shameful act, what they’ve just done.
Many of Bieber’s fans are yearning for his team to sue H&M for using his face and brand without his permission. An interesting factor is how will such a giant clothing line make such a blunder.
However, a rep for the retailer addressed the situation but without showing remorse. The rep defended the clothing line saying that they followed the proper approval procedure, like all other licensed products and partnerships.
Justin Bieber, for now, has only called out H&M for selling his merch without approval. He’s yet to take legal action against them. However, one thing’s for sure; he doesn’t shy away from it.
Last year, the singer almost sued Brian Whiteley, an artist, for claiming to compile an exhibit of erotic artwork implicating Bieber. This means that the clothing line may be getting letters from the singer’s attorney pretty soon.
- Justin Bieber needs “justice,” and he wants the clothing line to say “sorry.” Will they?
