Real Housewives of Atlanta fans everywhere were devastated when Kandi Burruss announced her departure from the series at the beginning of 2024. After all, the Grammy winner did hold a peach from Seasons 2 through 15. This made her run as the longest-running Housewife in the franchise’s history. When she discussed her decision to leave, she said that she’d be back at some point. Has the time already arrived? In a new interview with People, Kandi teased her big Bravo return, and the project seems exciting.
Kandi Burruss’ Daughter Is Filming a New Reality Show
Back in May 2024, Bravo announced a string of new shows coming to the network. One of which was called Making It in Manhattan. According to the press release, the series will follow a “tight-knit group of friends” who “navigate the trials and triumphs of young adulthood” in NYC. Although the official cast announcement hasn’t been revealed, Kandi hinted that her daughter is a main cast member.
“My daughter, Riley, she’s on a show that’s coming up at the top of the year, so she’s going to be doing reality,” she said. “So, I’m still there. I’m still part of that family.”
The new series is said to include other children of Real Housewives stars. Brooks Marks from RHOSLC, Ariana Biermann from RHOA, and Gia Giudice from RHONJ are all rumored to be part of the cast. They’ve even been spotted in NYC with a filming crew!
Kandi Is Happy To Be away From RHOA
Although fans will see Kandi return to Bravo in 2025, she’s not rushing to get back to the Real Housewives of Atlanta any time soon. During her chat with People, she said she’d never “say anything bad about” the show, but she “couldn’t be happier” with her life right now.
“Not that I don’t like the show, I just feel like when I left, I had done 14 seasons straight. No other Housewife had done that,” Burruss said. “So a lot of times, I was filming all year-round reality, and that can be a little draining.”
In addition to filming RHOA, Kandi was known among Bravo fans for keeping a bag. She had a spin-off called Kandi & The Gang, which followed the staff at her soul-food restaurant. Plus, she had a series called Queens of R&B that followed her girl group, Xscape, as they prepared for their comeback tour.
As watchers have seen in the past, Housewives often return to the show several seasons down the line. However, with Kandi’s growing resume, it may be a while before that happens. At least there’s Making It in Manhattan to look forward to.
