Prince Harry and Meghan Markle remain the most favored party amid the royal family’s health woes as Kate Middleton continues to battle cancer. Back in March, the Princess of Wales announced her cancer diagnosis, discovered following a planned abdominal surgery. At the time, Kate revealed plans to extend her break from official duties to enable her better focus on her health and recovery. Since then, the 42-year-old has remained scarce, making only a few public appearances in months past.
In Kate Middleton’s absence amid cancer treatment, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have won quite the popularity, stirring public sentiments with their high-profile visits to countries like Nigeria and Colombia. These visits reportedly leave the royal family fearing for the fate of the monarchy, especially with their key asset, Kate, becoming increasingly scarce. Things are about to take an even more concerning turn for the royals as Harry and Meghan forge alliances within the family.
Harry and Meghan’s Clever Move Leave Kate Middleton Concerned
According to Royal author, Tom Quinn, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s alliance with cousins Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice has especially made Prince William and Kate Middleton uneasy. The royal expert explained his viewpoint during an interview with the Mirror, claiming any alliance between the Sussexes and the York sisters “is a huge worry” for William and Kate. Tom noted that such a bond would be forged easily because Eugenie and Beatrice, have more in common with the Susexes than any other royal family member. He divulged,
“They sense that Beatrice and Eugenie feel that, as virtual outcasts themselves, they have far more in common with Harry and Megan than with any other part of the family. The situation is made worse by the fact that the senior royals’ main asset – Kate herself – is effectively out of action while she continues her treatment for cancer.”
Tom Quinn explained how Harry and Meghan have maintained close contact with the York Sisters since their UK exit, despite having “little sympathy” for Prince Andrew, their dad. While the sisters have strived to stay as far away as possible from the royal drama, Eugenie visited her cousin Prince Harry in the US back in 2022. The duo caught the Super Bowl together that year, and have maintained their close bond while Harry’s relationship with the other royals continues to fade.
Going further, the royal expert pointed out that aside from their alliance with Beatrice and Eugenie, the senior royals worry that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s latest string of faux-royal tours would give them an advantage over Kate Middleton who is forced to stay in the background while battling cancer. Ultimately, the Susexes would revel in this positive publicity, making the most of Kate’s absence. This could leave the public questioning the relevance of the royal family, as having “non-royals” offer similar value without putting the weight on taxpayers doesn’t exactly have a nice ring to it.
